On March 31 the world fair EXPO 2020 ended. The event, opened a wide range of opportunities for Latvian companies to get acquainted with the Gulf countries, establish contacts with 192 countries and present Latvian products and innovations to the global market. Overall EXPO 2020 has bought thousands of new business contacts, while the Latvian pavilion recently received the silver prize in the rental pavilion category.
From March 15 to 17, three wood processing companies from Latvia – ‘Baibiņa’ SIA, ‘Ingrid D’ AS and ‘ImpExWod’ SIA – are participating in the woodworking fair ‘Dubai Woodshow’ in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates (UAE). This is the first time for Latvia to take part in the event. The expectations are high as the woodworking industry in the Middle East is not yet developed.
The international EXPO 2020 Dubai fair is taking place in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and will continue until 31 March this year. In addition to the Latvian Culture Week, Dubai is to host a meeting of the Joint Economic Committee between Latvia and the UAE, which will be joined by the Minister of Economics of Latvia Jānis Vitenbergs and a delegation of businesspeople. Latvian companies will also participate in food and design industry trade missions.
This year’s AIM is taking place between 29 to 31 March and is inviting Latvian startups to join as startups or as a jury in Pitch Competition. The winners will gain an opportunity to be mentored by industry experts and maximise the potential to attract funding for their business, as well as get prizes worth up to $30,000 USD.

At the end of January, Arab Health, the leading medical equipment exhibition in the Middle East, and a trade mission for the Latvian biomedical and healthcare industry took place in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Latvia was represented by 13 companies at the events, and the results were very good.
Arab Health 2022 takes place in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), from 24 to 27 January, alongside a trade mission for the Latvian biomedical industry which will start on 24 January and run until 1 February. Fifteen companies from Latvia will go to Dubai; these companies operate in the fields of pharmaceuticals, medical devices, medical equipment, and IT products for the medical industry.
Latvian tourism professionals, in cooperation with the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia (LIAA) and the national airline ‘airBaltic’, have started this year with a series of successful B2B events. The Latvian Pavilion attracted the attention of visitors and media with various presentations and activities by industry representatives.
After the fairs and negotiations with potential cooperation partners, Latvian companies reveal that in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the Middle East market, Latvian products are particularly appreciated for their high-quality standards and sustainable packaging, as well as the eco-friendly products.
From 6 to 8 December, eight Latvian producers will present their organic and natural products and beverages to the world at the international fair ‘Organic & Natural’. Right after the fair, the companies plan to participate in the EXPO 2020 food trade mission. The companies will have the opportunity to meet with potential partners and visit stands of other Member States.
On 27 November, Latvia celebrated its National Day at EXPO 2020 Dubai. The day started with a formal opening, which was proceeded by the Latvia-UAE Business Forum, bilateral meetings and a reception organised in honour of the Visit of President of Latvia Egils Levits to Dubai. Part of the event was also a special culture programme.
The Latvian National Day will take place on 27 November at EXPO 2020 world fair in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates (UAE). From 24 to 29 November, 10 companies from Latvia are participating in the EXPO 2020 design trade mission in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The companies will be given a chance to meet potential business partners, visit other national exhibitions, participate in the Business Forum, and join the events of the Latvian National Day on 27 November.
11 Latvian companies will take part in two food fairs and a trade mission. The food fairs will focus on products such as the gourmet segment, free-from food, ethnic products, sweets, confectionery, ice cream, organic food and drinks, etc. After the fairs, most companies will continue their participation in a food trade mission.
On 21 October, the global information technology and innovation fair ‘GITEX Technology Week’ ended in Dubai, and 13 companies from Latvia were among the participants. Their desire to be leaders in ICT is by no means too ambitious: in 2020, the export value of the ICT sector was 849 million euros or 19.4% of the total exports of services from Latvia.
From 17 to 30 October, a number of Latvian scientists and industry representatives are taking part in the Space Trade Mission held alongside the International Astronautical Congress. This event will bring together more than 6,000 space professionals from around the world, sharing insights into developments in space academia and the industry, and providing new networking opportunities, contacts and potential partnerships.

THE BIG 5, the construction industry trade fair and a satellite event of EXPO 2020, took place in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), from 12 to 15 September. One of the ignition events before the official opening date of EXPO 2020 will be THE BIG 5, a construction fair that will take place from 12 to 15 September in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Eight Latvian construction companies will be among the fair’s participants and showcase their offer, including materials ranging from construction parts to interior design elements.
As the opening of the EXPO 2020 fair approaches, the preparation of the Latvian pavilion has now got underway. The pavilion is designed as a story about Latvia from its past to the future. To match this idea, the building block and central theme of the pavilion is peat as it naturally incorporates the same concept: what used to be plants is now a sedimentary material used in future technologies.

In her Instagram post, Sarah Jessica Parker admits she is a true fan of ‘Long Chips’ produced by the Latvian company ‘Pērnes L’ who will also participate in the international fair EXPO 2020 to present their potato chips that suddenly have become a hit along with other products.
Data from the beginning of 2021 show that Latvia exports to 179 countries, according to the Central Statistical Bureau. In the first four months of 2021, the total exports grew by 14% or 590 million EUR compared to the same period in the previous year. A fifth of all exported goods go to countries outside the EU and the CIS. Entering those markets is what Latvia will focus on when participating in the EXPO 2020 Dubai.
Today is the first day of the exhibition ‘Arab Health 2021’ where six companies from Latvia represent the biomedicine industry: ‘DoctoWell’, ‘Biosan’, ‘Longenesis’, ‘Ferterex’, ‘Nordeplast’ and ‘PharmIdea’. They have come to the UAE to make themselves known in the Middle East market as the fair is one of the first international events following the pandemic.
Set to start on October 1, EXPO 2020 will kick off in Dubai (United Arab Emirates). In preparation for EXPO 2020 Dubai and to foster the partnership between companies from Latvia and the Middle East, the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia is organizing an online B2B matchmaking event to connect people from the field of interior design, finishing, and high-quality materials. The virtual event takes place on May 20, 2021.
At the exhibition "Arab Health" Latvia will be represented by the strongest and most innovative companies in the field of medicine and health. Dubai is preparing to host the EXPO 2020 fair, which will be held from October 1, 2021 to March 31, 2022. The event will entail many in-person experiences; therefore, much attention is being paid to COVID-19 safety measures. At this stage, the participating countries and their companies are given an opportunity to present their innovative solutions to ensure participants’ safety. On April 7, SAF Tehnika used this chance to present its Aranet4 air quality monitor, already in high demand in several countries.

On March 11, the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia (LIAA) signed the agreement on the development of the concept for Latvia’s Pavilion at EXPO in Dubai, which also includes equipping and arranging its premises. The offer by the SOIL team was chosen as the best idea among other proposals. It is based on 4D solutions that showcase peat as a unique material that guides through the country’s past and leads to future achievements. The fair will be hosted by Dubai between October 1, 2021, and March 31, 2022.
